Charlotte's Grand Entrance

Our little girl has arrived ... and it turns out she likes grand entrances.

8lb 8oz - 21.25"

When Charlotte finally decided to make an appearance she was set on getting here as fast as she could.  Cori started having contractions Friday around 5:30pm about every 20-30 minutes. We left for the hospital about 8:00 when contractions were 5-7 minutes apart. On the way to the hospital they quickly progressed to 2-4 minutes apart.  We arrived at the hospital around 8:45 and were asked to wait in the waiting room until a bed was available in triage.  At 9:17pm we got a bed in triage and when Cori was checked she was fully dilated and ready to go. We were very quickly moved to an OR for a quick natural birth.  Not what we had planned, but when there are no rooms available you take what you can get.  Charlotte was with us 10 minutes later at 9:27pm.  Mom did an outstanding job in what was a slightly chaotic sequence of events.  Dad (me) was pretty helpless, but fulfilled the roll of proud husband and father as best as he could.  Charlotte arrived in great condition and with high spirits!  Both she and mom are doing great.  We came home yesterday afternoon to settle into our new family of 5.  The boys got to meet Charlotte Saturday, and as much fun as that was we are thrilled to see what happens in the next few days.

Cori and I would like to offer special thanks to Joy Ashworth for being a part of God's plan for Charlotte's arrival.  Our sweet friend made a special trip to the hospital after working her 12 hour shift in labor and delivery to take special care of us. We are confident this baby would have been delivered in the waiting room if she hadn't been there to get the wheels turning.  We first met Joy when she helped deliver Carter over 2 years ago, and she and Cori have become good friends thru bible study since then.  We are so thankful God made her a part of this chapter of our life story - and in this case our guardian angel.

We are looking forward to what God has planned for us and so thankful for all the blessings he has blessed our family with so far.

Love to you all.

Phil (proud Husband and Daddy of Cooper, Carter, and Charlotte)
